Home Wedding Honeymoon Children Events Visit Our Home Honeymoon in Italy30 September 2000 - SaturdayVicenza, ItalyMorning Shopping & Lunch in VicenzaAgain, we arose to cappuccino and tea cookies, delivery via Andy. We were on our way again into Venice. But first, we decided to do a little shopping. We went to the jewelry store in the Piazza dei Signori. We had spotted this shop when we first arrived in town. I picked out a beautiful heart necklace in white gold for Michelle. We started to look at the pearls and after much deliberation and great patience on part of the jeweler's behalf (due to a language barrier), we created a "one of a kind" strand of pearls. The pearls are so beautiful. It was Andy's wedding gift to me. What a surprise and totally heart felt. It will be a moment that will forever be etched in my memory. The jeweler's shop had been there for over 400 years. The man was very sweet and a joy to work with. We picked out the exact strand that we wanted along with the special clasp for the "Luna di Miele." Venezia (Venice), ItalyWe arrived in Venice around 2:00 o'clock that afternoon, after having lunch in a delightful Italian cafeteria in town. Upon arrival in Venice, we went straight to St. Mark's Basilica. The church was breathtaking. It had five domes, Italian mosaic marble floors, gold mosaic in all five domes, the golden wall, and the remains of Saint Mark. It truly was an unbelievable masterpiece. Cocktails at Piazza San MarcoAfter this somber tour of such opulence, greatness and fallen power we tucked ourselves into the Grand Café Florian once again. We "dined" on olives, Kir, and Brandy. As we sat on the patio, people watched and enjoyed the music and ambiance of the moment. We must have been there for two hours or more. Strolling Around VeneziaWe got up to walk through the city. We ended up fairly cold and damp as it was raining. We tucked back into our Trattoria del Madonna again. The meal was as delicious as the first visit. Andy ordered fried fish and we shared this entree. We sat here ate, dried out, and warmed up by drinking the house red wine. Unfortunately, when we left the restaurant, it was still raining and the gondola rides had all been cancelled (we did not do this on our first visit to Venice, as we wanted to come back and enjoy it at dusk.) Journey back to VicenzaWe walked back to the train station. This time, we boarded the correct train and found our own compartment all to ourselves. Andy had popped open a bottle of wine and we toasted to another terrific day. We had both become so aroused by one another that we immediately "got busy". Andy timed things very quickly as the train was slowing into the first stop. It was exciting and thrilling as we timed it to the lurching of the train. Well, of course, we could not just stop there, we had to go at it again. This time, I had my back to the door. Now I do not know why, but we had not an inclination that our tickets had not been checked yet, well guess what, Andy now knows what the meaning of "getting caught with your pants down!" Well the train attendant flew in so quickly that I am sure that he caught an eyeful and a half. He was very cross and almost militant as he punched our cards. Our "friend" came back to check on us and before our exit to Vicenza, he asked if we spoke Italiano, and proceeded to "scold" us on our actions. He told us that the Polizie could be called. "No", as he moved his arms back and forth with his hips. We tried to apologize and explain that we were "Luna di Miele." But nothing worked. Upon our arrival at the station, we ran off that train so quickly, hand and hand. He was standing outside on the platform to make his point of his warning. We should have got a picture of him! We laughed and laughed for hours about the ride home! Back in the room, I tried my pearls on for Andy, with not much else on. Shall we say that we finished what we started on the train. Continue to the next day
